Subject: Urgent: Canada Must Act to End Starvation and Civilian Targeting in Gaza
Email Body:
Dear Prime Minister Carney and Members of Parliament,
On November 14, 2025, students across Canada are striking — not for ourselves, but for the children of Gaza.
Children who are denied education, and being starved purposely for ethnic cleansing. Children who are innocent whose only crime was being born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Canada is a major player on the world stage, known for its humanity, compassion and kindness. We are calling for moral action and courageous leadership in the face of genocide.
This is not a conflict of equals — it is the systematic destruction of an entire people.
Recent data indicates that more than 680,000 people have been murdered in Gaza, including 380,000 children under the age of five. 80% of Gaza’s children are living with hunger and facing starvation.
The whole strip has become a mass grave.
As Canadians, we refuse to share in the burden of complicity through silence, trade, and weapons that fuel this atrocity. Recognition of Palestine is an important step, but acknowledgment alone does not stop bombs, does not stop starvation, and does not save lives.
We therefore call upon Parliament to:
End all complicity in the genocide, including halting arms trade and military cooperation that may contribute to war crimes;
Ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid reaches Gaza, including food, water, and medical supplies;
Reaffirm Canada’s commitment to international law, including the Geneva Conventions;
Support the return of Palestinian land to the 1967 borders and the establishment of a free and sovereign Palestinian state.
Prime Minister Carney — words without action are deception.
The world is watching what Canada does next. We strike because Gaza deserves a future. Because children, like us, deserve to live, to learn, and to dream again.
Please use your privilege and authority for right action, for peace at home and abroad, and lead with justice. Canada has a unique opportunity to lead with courage — we ask for your support in making our country proud again.
With respect, heartbreak and hope,

Our Mission
Our mission is to support orphans and vulnerable children, build life-sustaining water wells in underserved communities of Bangladesh, and empower the next generation of youth leaders through compassion, service, and community-driven action. Through high school–led, youth-run campaigns and a spirit of Islamic youth revival, we strive to nurture young hearts in faith, resilience, and responsibility, creating a movement of service that uplifts communities locally and globally.
The Asef Syed Foundation
The Asef Syed Foundation (ASF) is a high school youth-led empowerment organization dedicated to raising awareness and creating meaningful change through youth-driven campaigns. Our very first initiative, the Orange Shirt Campaign, focuses on educating Canadians about the tragic legacy of Indian Residential Schools and the ongoing struggles facing Indigenous communities.
Future youth-led campaigns will address urgent issues such as the youth suicide epidemic in Indigenous communities—a crisis that touches nearly every Indigenous family across Canada—as well as anti-drug and anti-alcohol awareness. ASF is a safe space for youth to gather, learn, and lead, offering opportunities in advocacy, AI skills development, and leadership training to help shape the next generation of changemakers.
ASF is 100% youth volunteer–run: for the youth, by the youth.
The Foundation was created in loving memory of Asef Syed — a gifted singer, fashion designer, and dreamer with a heart for humanity — who tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident on the sacred day of Eid al-Adha (Day of Arafah), July 9, 2022. “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.” (Qur’an 2:156)
Founded by his sister Sabina Syed and mother Kohinur Akhter, the Foundation continues the vision Asef and Sabina once shared: to uplift the lives of street children and orphans in Bangladesh while empowering youth in Canada to serve humanity and create meaningful change locally as well as globally.
Our Vision
At ASF, we believe that youth don’t have to wait until adulthood to make a difference. The Asef Syed Foundation is dedicated to empowering the next generation of compassionate, confident, and enlightened leaders through meaningful action.
We mobilize teens to collaborate on awareness campaigns and provide a platform for cross-community collaboration while also fundraising for orphaned children in Bangladesh. ASF equips youth with resources and training to enhance their academic, professional, and spiritual excellence, guiding them to become activists, organizers, fundraisers, entrepreneurs, changemakers, and leaders.
Through our work, we honor Asef’s memory by turning individual passion into collective impact. With a guiding principle, “We work for free so more kids can eat,” ASF operates with zero administrative fees, no salaries for board members, and full transparency—ensuring every penny goes directly to those in need.
Our long-term charitable vision unfolds in three strategic phases:
-
Awareness & Advocacy – Youth-led campaigns to address social crises.
-
Relief & Support – Fundraising and direct aid for vulnerable communities, including orphans.
-
Empowerment & Leadership – Building a generation of youth who are skilled, spiritually grounded, and committed to service.
Zero administrative fees, no salaries for board members, and full transparency in our operations. We are committed to restoring the true Islamic values of zakat, sadaqah, and service to the vulnerable — with every penny going directly to those in need.
Our long-term charitable vision unfolds in three strategic phases:
Phase 1: Immediate Relief and Spiritual Upliftment
We are currently in Phase 1 of our journey — providing essential support to an orphanage and madrassa in Bogra, Bangladesh, located in the village of Asef Syed’s grandfather.
Here, we have built the Asef Syed Qur’an Reading Room, where children are learning to become hafiz (memorizers of the Qur’an) while receiving food, shelter, and basic necessities.
Additionally, we construct clean water wells in rural areas at an accessible cost of $250 per well, providing life-saving water to families who otherwise have none.
Phase 3: Free Health Care Clinic for the Impoverished
In the final phase, we plan to establish a free medical clinic within the Foundation Centre to serve those in extreme poverty.
Healthcare is often inaccessible in rural Bangladesh, and our goal is to ensure no one is denied care due to financial hardship.
We aim to collaborate with Doctors Without Borders and other medical volunteers to provide essential services, side by side with our orphan and elderly care programs.
Phase 2: Building the Asef Syed Foundation Centre
In this next phase, we will expand the orphanage by developing the Asef Syed Foundation Centre on land generously donated by Asef’s grandfather.
This Centre will include:
● Expanded housing and facilities for orphans
● Dedicated quarters for abandoned elderly individuals with no family support
